Multi-currency

If you’re billing your customers in one currency, but paying your affiliates in another, or if you’re offering your customers the option to switch currencies for their purchases, then this add-on is for you.

The multi-currency add-on allows you to specify the exchange rates between the currencies available for your customers on checkout and the currency of your affiliate program.

This way, all of the affiliate commissions will be calculated in the currency of your affiliate program, streamlining the payout process and making it easier for you to manage your affiliate program.

Let’s get you started with this add-on.

Step 1: Activate the Multi-currency add-on

To get started, purchase a SliceWP Pro or Pro Plus license. This will unlock the Multi-currency add-on, alongside all other add-ons to help you take your affiliate program to the next level.

Then follow these steps:

1. From your SliceWP account page, download and install the SliceWP Pro plugin. Click here for a step-by-step guide on how to do this.
2. Once you have SliceWP Pro installed, navigate to your WordPress admin area > SliceWP > Add-ons page and activate the Multi-currency add-on.

Step 2: Set the currencies and exchange rates

Now that you have the add-on active, let’s set the currencies available for your customers on checkout and the exchange rates between those currencies and the one from your affiliate program.

Here’s how:

1. Navigate to SliceWP > Settings > General (tab) > Multi-currency Settings (section).
2. Here, click on the “Add Exchange Rate” button to add a new currency. Then, select the currency from the checkout and set the rate between that currency and the one from your affiliate program. The later currency is preselected by default based on the value you’ve set in SliceWP > Settings > General (tab) > Currency Settings (section) > Currency (field).
3. Lastly, repeat step 2 for each one of the currencies available for your customers on checkout.

Step 3: Enable auto-update currency exchange rates (optional)

To have the exchange rates you’ve set on step 2 always up to date, you have two options:

1. Either, you can update the rates manually.
2. Or, you can enable the ExchangeRates-API integration to automatically update the rates on a daily basis.

If you choose the second option, you will need to create an account on ExchangeRates-API and add your account’s API key to SliceWP. Here’s how:

1. Firstly, navigate to the ExchangeRates-API site and create an account. They have a free plan, which includes up to 1500 API requests/month. Considering that SliceWP updates the exchange rates once per day, the base free plan should work for you.
2. Once you have the account, navigate to your ExchangeRates-API dashboard and copy your API key.
3. Then, navigate back to your website, to SliceWP > Settings > General (tab) > Multi-currency Settings (section), and select the “ExchangeRates-API” option in the “Rates Update Method” field.
4. Lastly, add the API key in the “API Key” field and click the “Connect” button. Once you do this, the system gets activated and exchange rates will now be updated automatically on a daily basis. Additionally, you’ll also be able to update all exchange rates by pulling them from ExchangeRate-API. This can be done by clicking the “Update Rates” button, that’s inline with the “Add Exchange Rate” button.

That’s it! You’ve set up the multi-currency feature. From now on, all commissions will be calculated taking into account the currencies used by the customer.
