Product update: Affiliate Password Reset

If in our last product update we talked about some minor changes, today we’ll cover a bigger feature: affiliate password reset.

Yep, you can now offer your affiliates an easy way of resetting their account password.

If up until now you had to manually reset your affiliates’ passwords or send them to your eCommerce plugin’s recover password form, from now on your affiliates will be able to easily reset their password, directly from the affiliate area.

How it works

Let’s say one of your affiliates tries to log into their account. But, after a few tries, they realize they forgot their password and it would be best to reset it.

On the login form they can now find the “Lost your password?” link.

Once they click the link, they’ll be redirected to a form asking for their email address, where they’ll receive further instructions on how they can reset their password.

In the form above your affiliate only needs to type in the email address attached to their account. Once they hit the “Reset Password” button, they’ll need to check their inbox for a password reset request email.

The email will look something like this:

If your affiliate follows the “Click here to reset your password” link, they’ll be redirected back to your website, where they’ll be able to set a new password for their account.

Once they provide a new password and save it, they’ll be able to log into their affiliate account right away.

How to set up the password reset functionality

Now that you know how password reset works, let’s set up the functionality on your website. Here’s how:

Step 1

Firstly, navigate to your WordPress admin area > Pages > Add New, to create a new page.

Here, set a title for your page, let’s say “Affiliate Reset Password“.

Then add a Shortcode block into your page’s content area and add the following text in the shortcode field (as shown in the screenshot below): [slicewp_affiliate_reset_password]

Lastly, publish the page.

Step 2

Now that your reset password page is live, you just need to tie it to SliceWP. To do this, navigate to SliceWP > Settings > General (tab) > Pages Settings (section).

Here, set the “Reset Password Page” option to the newly created page, as shown in the screenshot. To finish up, save SliceWP’s settings. And you’re done!

We recommend giving the functionality a quick test to make sure it works as described above. If you’re having issues with it, please contact us here.

Make sure to update

If you haven’t updated SliceWP to the latest version, now’s the time to do it. The affiliate reset functionality is available starting with version 1.0.39.

P.S. We’re constantly looking to improve SliceWP (you can check out our public roadmap here). So, if you’re missing certain functionality from the plugin, please don’t hesitate to reach out and let us know what you need.
